ThinkMarkets overview 2021

ThinkMarkets is a multi-regulated broker offering Forex and CFD trading. Users can choose between MT4 and MT5 as well as the ThinkTrader broker platform. This, together with low trading fees and over 12,000 instruments, makes ThinkMarkets an attractive proposition.

TF Global Markets UK Ltd is registered by the FCA, the group is also ASIC and FSCA licensed.

The broker offers negative balance protection so that clients do not lose more than their deposits. In addition, ThinkMarkets has a £ 1 million insurance coverage plan.

ThinkMarkets was founded in 2010 by CEO Nauman Anis. The group is headquartered in Melbourne and London and is part of Think Capital Limited, a company registered in Bermuda.

Since 2010, the online broker has expanded its trading operations, attracting 550,000 users in 75 countries, including Indonesia, Egypt, UAE and Bulgaria. In 2018, ThinkMarkets broke the news that it is allowing Australian investors to invest in the emerging financial technology market by placing an initial public offering (IPO) on the ASX of £ 100 million.

Trading platforms

Three trading platforms are available; own ThinkTrader broker, MT4 and MT5.

ThinkTrader – the broker’s own platform is convenient and intuitive. Users get over 80 indicators, 50 drawing tools and 14 different types of charts. Customers also receive around 200 free cloud notifications. Direct trading on charts, standard risk management tools and several types of orders are also available.

MT4 – The platform can be downloaded to your computer for free. The platform promises fast trade execution, over 100 indicators and one-click trading. The MT4 system also comes with many excellent applications and additional features including AutoChartist, VPS and FXWirePro.

MT5 is the latest version of the popular MT4 software. It attracts experienced traders, in particular by offering more advanced trading tools and analysis functions. Users benefit from additional technical indicators and timeframes as well as an advanced strategy tester for Expert Advisors as well as a built-in economic calendar.

Please note: MetaTrader WebTrader platform is not available.

Markets

ThinkMarkets has 12,000 tradable instruments including:

  • Forex
  • Shares – over 12,000 shares available
  • Indexes – nine global indexes
  • Commodities – oil, gas and agriculture
  • Precious metals – gold, silver, platinum and copper
  • Cryptocurrencies – Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dash and others

Spread betting is also only available to UK customers.

Spreads and commissions

ThinkMarkets received high marks on trading commissions. Spreads start at zero points, while average spreads for major currency pairs such as EUR / USD and GBP / USD are 0.5 points and 1.2 points, respectively.

A ThinkZero Spread account is charged a commission of 3.5 per side of 100,000. A commission is also charged when trading stocks on the MT5 and ThinkTrader platforms. Inactivity fees are charged for accounts that have been inactive for six months. Traders will be happy to know that there are no swaps.

Leverage

ThinkMarkets allows its clients to trade with significant leverage:

  • Forex – leverage up to 1: 500
  • Indexes – leverage up to 1: 200
  • Commodities – up to 1: 200 leverage
  • Cryptocurrency – leverage up to 1: 5

To avoid a margin requirement, make sure you have sufficient capital in your account.

Please note that due to EU regulations, the maximum leverage available to traders from Europe is 1:30.

Mobile app

ThinkMarkets offers a full-service mobile app available for download on iOS and Android devices. ThinkMarkets, formerly known as Trade Interceptor, has enhanced the platform to provide superior mobile trading experience. Since then, the app has been rated five stars by over 15,000 users.

The award-winning mobile program offers thousands of markets, in-app chat support, and a wide range of analysis tools and technical indicators.

Payment methods

Funding an account is available in several ways:

  • Bank transfer – Processing time: 1-3 days
  • Credit & Debit Card – Processing Time: Instant
  • Skrill – Processing time: up to 10 minutes
  • Neteller – Processing time: up to 10 minutes

There is no minimum deposit for the standard account, but the ThinkZero account requires a minimum deposit of $ 500 / GBP.

For security reasons, the withdrawal and deposit method must be the same. Withdrawals are usually processed within 24 hours but can take up to seven business days. The minimum withdrawal amount is USD / GBP 100. There are no deposit and withdrawal fees on ThinkMarkets.

Demo account

ThinkMarkets offers a demo account with cash in practice of £ 25,000. Users can refine strategies and test the MT4, MT5 and ThinkTrader platforms as they familiarize themselves with the tools available. Although the demo account is not limited, it will expire if it has not been used for more than 90 days.

ThinkMarkets has two popular retail accounts:

  • Standard account – the average currency spread is 1.2 points, no commission and no minimum deposit, and the maximum trade size is 50 lots. In a standard account, AutoChartist is available through MT4 and MT5, but there is no access to the account manager.
  • ThinkZero – Average FX spread is 0.1 points, commission is 3.5 units per side, minimum deposit is £ 500 and maximum trade size is 100 lots. ThinkZero is best suited for traders looking for zero spreads and large position sizes.

Islamic trading accounts and joint accounts are also available.
