Investigation aims to purchase freelance teleservices for sports
The UK Competition Commission has initiated an inquiry into how several of the country’s top sports broadcasters and production companies, including Sky UK Ltd. and BT Group Plc., may have coordinated to purchase outsourced services.
CMA says it has reason to suspect the law has been broken
The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) stated that it has reasonable grounds to suspect one or more corporations, notably IMG Media Ltd. and ITV Plc, of violating competition law.
The CMA stated in a statement, “The investigation concerns the acquisition of freelance services that support the creation and broadcast of sports programming in the UK.”
Sky and ITV both stated that they were fully cooperating with authorities and were dedicated to maintaining competition laws.
