Remote software updates for new models
Renault SA is expanding remote software updates for new cars by strengthening its collaboration with Google Alphabet Inc.
According to Renault CEO Luca de Meo, “We aim to make the car an intelligent item that learns and can be upgraded over the air, like a mobile phone.”
Automakers are trying to catch up with Tesla.
Tesla Inc. is outpacing other automakers in several areas, including the capability to wirelessly provide vehicle upgrades.
According to Renault and Google, the partnership’s growth, which started in 2018, would enable Renault to provide more on-demand services and over-the-air software updates.
According to De Mea, the new digital elements in the automobile will increase sales, increase Renault’s residual value, and keep consumers.
