Meta Introduces Facebook Music Revenue Sharing
Meta Platforms Inc. introduces music revenue sharing on Facebook to help creators make money from licensed music videos in order to compete with TikTok.
A new tool, Rights Manager, developed by Meta in collaboration with the music industry, also assists content owners in protecting their rights.
Video creators will receive 20% of income
The creators will receive 20% of the revenue from the video, with the music and Meta rights holders receiving a separate share.
The video must be at least 60 seconds long and include a visual component, as licensed music cannot be the primary goal. This music will be available to video creators all over the world starting this week.
Eligible videos will earn money through in-stream ads, which will first appear in the United States and will then spread to the rest of the world where music is available on Facebook in the coming months.
